All
of us have an inner landscape. It's where we go when we close our eyes.
A place where everyone we have ever known, every place we have ever been,
and every conversation and story continues with many endings waiting for
us to take the stage in our other world.
Scott
Woodard invites us on an inner journey. He charts a course through a world
of his own making, dotted with landmarks of the universally iconic, while
in a simple umber palate clears away the clutter that obfuscates the purpose
of our daily lives. Part surrealism, part epic tale, the artist makes it
easy for the viewer to be pulled into his imaginary milieu by the light
and then invites us to slip away with the congregation of shadows that
populate the land within.(courtesy

Scott Woodard artist's statement:
"With solid but subtle intention
I want my paintings to be about experience. The experience of the creator.
The experience of the viewer. I want the onlooker to have a sense of the
serene life I seek. I want my work to convey the sense of connection to
a peaceful existence. I experience a private attraction to and a pure and
quiet delight in creating and representing serenity... tranquility... and
a stillness of the soul."
"As these are primarily inner
landscapes, I want the viewer to have that same experience: to pull order
and balance from the quiet of simplicity. The veil of illusion keeps us
moving as sleepwalkers. I want to see past the veil and have a more solid
connection to the divine."
